Tuesday Telltale Tripwires
There's a music blog somewhere here and I know it. Sometimes I forget to get to it. Tuesday's comin' at ya fast and loud and what's better than that?
- Hey, The Soft Pack is coming to Phoenix in a few weeks. I'm so there. Any band with a Bill Hicks picture on its home page is alright by me.
- Guns 'n Roses' Axl Rose speak to the Reading Festival crowd after the band 's set got curtailed by promoters, claiming curfew limits. The Guardian UK wrote about the set itself that "True, the magic of hearing the likes of Welcome To The Jungle, It's So Easy and November Rain live cannot be diminished. But last night Reading was challenged to judge whether this was enough, and Reading judged "no". There was no charisma, no chemistry.."
- I use the word "bits' all the time, to describe something coming up timewise ("It's on in a few bits"); or where I put my keys and shit ("It's over by my bits"), or a part of a song ("Those guitar parts are awesome bits"). Now Popdose has gone and stolen my fave word for a new feature, calling it Popdose's Greatest Bits - first feature on the men of pop-jazz-rock pioneers Steely Dan.
- Whoo Hoo! Check out upcoming shows for my rockin' Dfactor trio (aka The Swinging Media)
- KEXP Seattle is offering up Ra Ra Riot's song 'Boy' as a free Mp3 on its blog.
- Green Day once again rocked Phoenix last night. I did not go, but the New Times' music editor did and wrote about his fab concert-going experience.
