Wolfgang's Vault - 1975 Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
This week's Concert from the Vaults (is that what they call it?) is from the Genesis US "Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" tour, with a live recorded show from LA's Shrine Auditorium. (Wasn't this the show that was on the box set?) The site reads:
"This show has been counted among the "Holy Grail" items for Genesis fans, as it's rumored to be one of the only professional recordings made on the band’s final tour with Peter Gabriel. Recorded on the band’s celebrated 1975 Lamb Lies Down on Broadway tour, this show features the entire Lamb rock opera, plus an encore of the band’s classic 1971 opus, "The Musical Box.”
Get your Colony of Slippermen fix right here. (Shame about their image use of a hippie Phil Collins leading the band - that was the next tour!)

Ah yes, The Lamb live show. Most of the band members agreed that the whole thing only came off perfectly once or twice, what with all the slides and costume changes. I also seem to recall that they had to start the US tour BEFORE the LP had been released in the States. The reception to a double-album's worth of new, unheard material was a pretty confused. I probably would have been there screaming, "Battle of Epping Forest, ya fucks!"
The Lamb, like a lot of double LPs, has about 2 1/2 - 3 sides of good, sometimes great material. The filler is not bad, but a little dull.
