Westerberg-Stinson "messin' around"

Via Paul Westerberg.net and Paul's Page, we find this Minneapolis Star Tribune blog post about Tommy Stinson from writer Chris Riemenschneider, who goes on to write....

"I just got off the phone with Tommy Stinson, for an interview to discuss the four new Replacements reissues (look for an article in Sunday’s Variety A&E section, online over the weekend). He was down in New Orleans writing some songs with Dave Pirner. That was great news to hear, but even better was the mention he nonchalantly dropped into the conversation about being back in town last week to “mess around” with Paul Westerberg and Michael Bland. Wow."

Could be fun if anything materializes down the road. I admire Tommy's & Paul's willingness to stay together and make music, but wish they'd use someone else on drums. I've seen Michael Bland play with Paul (and Soul Asylum) a bunch, and am aware that he's highly regarded in drummers' circles (and in MPLS), but I've just never dug his pretty simple (bland?) drumming for Paul's solo stuff. Or for his rock star looks.

Hey, that spam above reminds me that I need to put a song to the lyrics I wrote a few years back on "I Wanna Be A Ringtone!"

I think the chorus went
"Download Me! Download Me!"
