Dr. Vandervelde - Knowledge of Evil
With another finance-shaking news-life-work week, blogging will likely be light this week, but one highlight is that I can't wait to see David Vandervelde Thursday night here in the 480 at the Rhythm Room.
I'm loving the popped-up, slowed-down jams (California Breezes!) from his new Secretly Canadian LP "Waiting for the Sunrise" and can't wait to hear some of the new material rocked up, much like this live version of "Knowledge of Evil" from the LP, shot in late August in LA. It's much more alive and electric here than the echo-laden LP version. Dig the distortion! Sing along! It's tres Americana political!
Knowledge of Evil
All those men with their money, and their search for the soil
And those figures of power and their love for the oil,
They don't need anything from me.
And this war they've been fighting, since the ancient days,
It'll never end, oh oh oh, It'll never end, oh oh oh
And I've taken my flag down
And you should too
If we've taken our flags downs, are we biting the hand?
Tell me who is worse
Who has this curse?
