XM Fungus 53 - Sirius Punk
Over the last few months, since moving out west and joining car commuter culture, I've had the pleasure of listening to both XM Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio. Both services make the headache of car commuting go away when lost in your favorite music, without commerical interruptions for say, Camelback Toyota or something.
[And yes, I know the FCC has cleared the road for the two services to merge, but that's a business story for another post.]
In any case, as I like to rock it out, I often tune into XM's Fungus 53 punk channel and Sirius Satelllite's Punk Channel. Both are great, offering up a mixed bag of punk new and old. To a keen listener I guess you can spot more differences between the two, but my only insight is that the Sirius East Coast team seems a little more NYC punk focused, as I tend to hear more NY Dolls, Dictators, Ramones, et al than the XM Radio punkers.
Thursday, on my morning commute, I heard a great swath of songs from old school Dutch punkers The Bugs, Street Dogs (Tobe's Got a Drinking Problem), The Dickies (Stukas Over Disneyland)
and others. The pleasure of driving and rocking out to these songs is something I never knew in my auto-less NYC existence. it's a great feeling.
So that's my satellite radio post today. Pretty lame, right?
I might see Agent Orange this weekend. If they'll have me.

Sucks XM ditched Fungus
Did XM really dump the channel? Ugh.
I've been also heavy on Little Steven's Underground Garage radio, four channels to the left... a great mix of 50 years of rock and roll history, kinda like this blog's intent....
They made an AC/DC 24/7 station like the Led Zep station. Why didn't they just make it a 30 day thing like ColdPlay and Metallica? I might dump the subscription until the merger goes through. Then we can get Sirus Punk station.
Except that the Sirius punk station is all AC/DC. What kind of "suit" move is this?
Wait, now you're all confusing me - I've never heard AC/DC on Sirius Punk 29. Plenty of Black Flag and Offspring, but not AC/DC.... ?
