The Moody Blues - Classic
Last week, by pure chance, I happened to catch most of a XM broadcast with two members of the famed British band The Moody Blues doing acoustic versions of their songs and answering questions from the in-studio crowd.
Now, the last time I even THOUGHT about The Moody Blues was probably 1973 or something, but as I listened, I was delighted to hear great stories, good vibes and great acoustic versions of some the band's big early 70s hits. They told stories about playing Bill Graham's Fillmore East club on 2nd Ave, playing the famous 1970 Isle of Wight show and how their 1967 symphony record "Days of Future Passed" got put together. All in all, a great hour on headphones.
I haven't heard any songs of this band in a very long time, so, in a first for Waved Rumor, I bring you some Moody Blues - a few choice cuts from the band's catalog below: from smoky Paris, a live and raw version of "Ride My See Saw" from 1970, a late 60s clip from Germany with the band doing a live version of "Tuesday Afternoon" and a clip of "Nights in White Satin" live from the aforementioned 1970s Isle of Wight show.
Ride My See Saw (live, Paris, 1970)
Tuesday Afternoon (live, late 60s, somewhere)
Nights in White Satin (Isle of Wight, 1970)
Forty years on, and the band keeps touring and bringing in the crowds. They will be touring throughout March (no, no SXSW sets). Check all the dates here.
