Weekly Wednesday

"Vampire Weekend – Koenig, keyboardist Rastam Batmanglij, bassist Chris Baio and drummer Christopher Tomson – specialize in an unspoken emotion that isn’t so much kept as it’s passed along like a mild electrical current through a cord – connected at all times to the long snaking fire that can refrigerate, light, heat, connect and do about a billion other things, all in the same form."
- Daytrotter sheds daylight (with MP3s) on Vampire Weekend.

-- Reuters reports that Vanity Fair calls "Purple Rain" the greatest film soundtrack. Ugh. Haven't these people EVER heard of the film "This is Spinal Tap"? Sheesh.

- Pop rocker Andy Bopp (aka Myracle Brah) hosts a record release party tonight at Lakeside Lounge for "Can You Hear The Myracle Brah?" - 10/24-9pm-Lakeside Lounge-162 Avenue B-NYC

- The Rawking Refuses to Stop puts forth a compelling case of the importance of Oink (which was shut down by 'the authorities' the other day).

"Openers Demander took to the stage at 7pm, followed by a 45-minute set from Art Brut, during which Eddie Argos changed the title of 'Blame It On The Trains' to 'Blame It On The Planes' after missing a flight from Los Angeles the previous day."
- The NME-sponsored Rock N Roll Riot tour with The Hold Steady, Art Brut and Demander kicked off Monday night in Providence, RI. The bands will be touring together for the next month.
