Luna Halo - Kings & Queens
Nashville rockers Luna Halo release their self-titled debut new CD on October 30th, and their peeps have offered up an MP3 of their kickin' track Kings & Queens (also streaming at their MySpace page). I like it.
Frontman and singer-guitarist Nathan Barlowe brings it all together for the band. "This is all I’ve wanted to do -- ever since I was seven years old," he says. "Kids were out playing cops and robbers, or whatever, and I had a fake concert stage built in our basement with lights and everything. I’d put on whatever cassettes I could find around the house and get up there and lip-sync and pretend I was a star."
See kids? No need to be shy about your dreams in rock and roll. Say it Loud. I like singer Nathan's rock-tested snarl lead vocal - it's strong. Reminds me of the sound that Jersey rockers 10 Heads High used to kick out all over the Lower East Side a few years back.
From the release:
Produced by Neal Avron (Yellowcard, Fall Out Boy, Everclear), "Luna Halo" premieres 11 new recordings from this taut and fiery rock & roll ensemble including "Kings & Queens," "Untouchable," "Medicate," "I'm Alright," "On My Way," "On Your Side," "The Fool," "Big Escape," "Falling Down," "English Boys," and "World On Fire."
"Luna Halo" was recorded at the Sunset Sound Factory in Hollywood, mixed at Paramount Studios and mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York City during the summer of 2006.
Whew! And it took a year for it to be released? Is there a story behind that? Note it in the comments, sil vouz plait.

They are signed to Rick Rubins American Recordings. When they made the record, American was under Warner Brothers. Right before the release American moved to Columbia and took the band with them delaying the record.
This band will turn heads. I've heard the record. Pretty great.
It's about time this album came out. (The Rubin-to-Columbia delay seemed eternal.) I saw them about this time last year and thought they put on a really good show. The album is thinner than the tour EP would suggest, but it's not bad.
Thanks for the insights, gents....
