Barry Manilow Rocks....QVC
Wow...Barry Manilow is everywhere these days... I add this bit below to make a point about merchandise marketing, not necessarily that I'm a big Manilow fan....
"On Sunday, September 9 legendary performer Barry Manilow returned to QVC® to debut his latest album, THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE SEVENTIES, nine days before street date.
His concert appearance was a resounding success. Manilow sold approximately 40,000 copies of his album, which will arrive in stores September 18 on Arista Records and holds the record for the highest single-day sales by a musical artist in QVC history. Manilow stunned audiences last year when his QVC appearance marked the highest single-hour sales event in the multimedia retailer’s twenty-year history when debuting THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE SIXTIES album."
DOUBLE WOW! 40,000 copies sold over a 1-800 line. That is incredible. Lots of Manilow-lovin' housewives watching QVC these days. Not bad work, if you can get it.
