TV21 - New Songs
Edinburgh's great, near-forgotten post-punk band TV21 is back with two awesome new songs. The band has just posted two new tracks on its MySpace page - 'Look to the Sun' and 'Last Man Standing' - that to me, sound as good as they ever did and probably better now - an angry swagger and a moving earnestness comes across in their songs, with driving rhythms and chiming guitars. Totally yes.
I've posted a few times in recent years about my love of TV21 and their sole LP A Thin Red Line (recorded 26 summers ago). Once was earlier this spring and the other time was in 2005. Others have noticed too. As one Lost Bands reader astutely pointed out..."A forgotten gem of a band. Their best songs have an urgency, a slow-burning anger, and resoluteness that for me define the best of the 'post punk' era. And 'Red Line' is one of the best albums of that time."
Here's a video taken from their early 80s days on the UK's Old Grey Whistle Test. Can't wait to see/hear more new stuff.
