David Vandervelde

Since I've been on a T. Rex listening kick at home the last few days, I thought I'd stay in the mode and check out some NEW music from David Vandervelde.

Vandervelde clearly has absorbed his Marc Bolan influences well. His voice is a Bolan dead ringer, and the sounds around him bring back that stomp and glam sound from the good 'ol days. But it's not all imitation at the expense of songs - Vandervelde's songs are reverby and hooky. Check out numbers like Jacket (watch the video at MOKB and Nothin No at his MySpace page.

David Vandervelde brings his big band "The Moon Station House Band" to Brooklyn's Union Hall on Feb 26 and Pianos the following night.
